Cherished Memento

Taking a long deep
beautiful breath in
Slowly accepting it,
gently holding it...
A cherished memento
Until the capacity
of my lungs - fill
Feeling the pressure,
the build up,
the freedom,
and the release
of all that has
held me back;
kept me in my own
self imposed sanction
Long insightful walks
down stone streets
City lights bounce
and reflect from
subject to object
Shimmering affect
like a pebble to water
dropped into the Fiume Arno
Rippling outward
without limitation
Image and vision
The imagination
has no boundaries
My sense of compassion
and love;
my sense of wanting
to explore
and experience
- everything
Simply walking
the streets at night
Taking in all
that is generously,
unconditionally offered
Fills my heart
Opens me up
to all that is possible
All that once
appeared dark
now has a light
shining with brilliance
Chasing away
insecurities, fears
-  reluctance
A smile from a stranger
Beautiful faces
and engaging eyes;
meet, connect and hold
gently hold the moment
like a treasured cherished memento

I Long For You

The moon hangs low
wrapping the night
in a magical blanket
of Florence city lights
Off in the distance
late night cathedral
bells ring
Roof top view
overlooking
the Arno River
Lights glisten
on the Ponte Vecchio
Lovers walk holding hands;
a kiss and a photo op
A lifetime of memories made  -
Locks of love
tell their own story
Slowly sipping a glass
of local Merlot
I wonder how many
of those stories
have stood
the test of time
A toast to you
and yours
and all that have come
and gone before and after
 - Eyes wide with amazement
I can't help but wonder...
What it would feel like,
what would it be like
to share such moments
To point to the stars
and make a connected wish
To share our favorite vino
Chat about the days experience;
give and take
your perspective
and mine intertwine
What would I think
if you held my face
in your hands
and kissed my mouth
Whispering I love you bella
Taking my breath away
Stopping time,
earth moves;
all the cliches
all the romantic poetic verse
tossed together
impacting my heart
like a hurricane
- Roof top view
overlooking
the Arno River
Lights glisten
on the Ponte Vecchio
a rush of wind
my emotions
are as clear
as the view
stars shine bright
above the city of Florence
and my heart knows
... I long for you

Streets Of Stone

Deeply blue slightest hint
of Tuscan golden light
seeps through clouded skies;
while God like images dance about
- and cathedral bells ring...
Brilliance not defined
by the written word,
or captured moments
looking glass lens
Nikon click and go immortal
I could fall in love here
I could walk the streets of stone
Sidestepping with delight
the sudden fly-by motorino
- warm breeze softens the blow
Street art political figures
shout out to passers by
Democracy was never crystal clear
here on ancient stucco walls
that hold secrets
from a turbulent past
Not unlike the way
lovers hold one another
in the calm of a Firenze night
I could fall in love here
I could walk the streets of stone
Sidestepping with delight
the sudden fly-by motorino
- warm breeze softens the blow
Past and present mesh together
while gently caressing seductive eyes
reach beyond the language barrier
The way your hand would fit into mine
- and our long walks remembering a time BC
I could fall in love here
I could walk the streets of stone
Sidestepping with delight
the sudden fly-by motorino
- warm breeze softens the blow

Connect

There are times when you meet someone
 - and there are no words spoken
There is no agenda
There is no preconceived notion
There is that first look
That first visual forever etched into the mind
The color of the eyes - not even a smile
or glint of wonder
Just a simple clear sense of connect
And even if that "connect" doesn't move
from here to there or ever go anywhere
Other than remaining in that split second;
 - that moment in time
It holds a power all unto its own
And when the words are spoken
and a smile is shared...his eyes blue - mine brown
All is noticed and it remains still and quiet
And will never move beyond the ancient walls
of Firenze, Italia.
