Mother Nature Is Kind

Tree branches bend
and shuffle
an old soft shoe
saw dust on the floor scat
to the seductive blow
of the wind
the strength and force
of Mother Nature
the female mother
Queen of Rag
Queen Bee
stings like a bitch
stings with venom
and a cure to sooth
the wretched soul
a force to reckon with
a force female in nature
female unshakable force
softness rests around her eyes
the creases are love and light
not to be mistaken
for innocence or naivete
but a genuine openness
warmth to touch
to settle into
to rest in arms and heart
wide accepting unquestionable devotion
no time for judgement
no time to put salt in the wound
no time to wound the wounded

The tree branches bend
and shuffle
old soft shoe
saw dust on the floor scat
to the seductive blow
of the wind
- Mother Nature is kind.

Death

Some people say to me
With good intentions
Possible discomfort
- or lack of experience
It's time to move forward
Start living your life
Reminding me repeatedly
I am no longer married to you
I am no longer your wife
Hold your head up sweet darling
You don't need to cry - anymore
...that is not what he would have wanted
That is not what his death was for...
Sadly he lost his right to want anything
When he left this place of existence
That night he took not only his last breath
But my path of least resistance
Leaving behind a blue vase
A dozen beautiful white roses
That crashed without warning
Tiny irreplaceable pieces onto the floor
A love note of forever and forever
 - and then never more
There is no subtle way to share or explain
And as I have said before - there is no time limit
On grieving or the depth of the pain
The process of moving from here to there
To know the finality of death - if ever
Nothing ever feels right
Nothing ever seems fair
And once that gut wrenching poison
Seeped deep into my heart
And took hold - there was no time
...and truth be told
It eventually became the norm -
It has found its safe haven
it has found its home
It wakes me in the middle of the night
Stealing away any sense of peace
A prisoner of my own confine
A battle within - a battle I continue to fight
A sweet reverie only to be replaced
By childhood demons that move so slowly
The demons we battled and put to rest
So many years ago
The vivid colors and visuals
Of that moment in time
...one night seven years ago
There is no sensible reason
They have not faded they remain sublime
Yesterday is not just a memory
It has become a way of life
And maybe that is all part of some empirical plan
Giving us a story we can hold onto
- to breathe easy when there is no rhyme
To engage that perfect fit
- the perfection in our own disguise ...
The balance between
All the good and all the bad
Life experiences the happy
- and the sad
To share the joke
That is on you/me with someone
Who will not judge
The error of our ways
Or the fear of being abandoned
 - and always feeling safe
Without having to say a word
A simple look deep into each others eyes
Knowing nothing
Should be taken for granted
...a heartfelt word to the wise
Truly knowing everything will be fine
And you and I knew it all too well
We just didn't know the length - of our time line...

Rose Colored Shades

Sometimes I wonder
what could have
and shouldn't have been
If we were what we intended
would some consider
it a morally deviant sin?
Seductively stepping off of this
highly sanctioned ground
taking a second non-connected look
never turning completely around
to see the difference
between you, me and them
There is nothing left to do
and less than little to say
Acutely aware how things
will begin to change
when everyone's comfort zone
edges begin to fray
I'll continue to look at you
wearing rose colored shades
There isn't anything
anyone can say
There isn't a road map
leading me in or out
getting lost is my forte
I'll sleep between
dusk and dawn
remaining hidden in the grey
And when the sun starts to rise
I'm better off hanging
in the distance
then I will rest my eyes
There is nothing left to do
and less than little to say
And I know things will begin to change
when everyone's comfort zone
edges begin to fray
I'll continue to look at you
wearing rose colored shades

Déjà vu Love Affair

You kissed me first,
I remember it well,
laughter fills the air
you flash that Sandbar grin
memories dock side
keep flaunting happiness
as if it were something
attainable
sustainable
not fleeting
or a mere moment
of joy
from the past
your eyes meeting mine
not the first time
déjà vu
quick glance
second chance
my first Martini
Ohio nights
airline flights
and oh yes
fancy car
baked brie
you and me
we were always on
borrowed time
some might judge
harshly
but the punishment
would never
fit the crime
when something
magical happens
between two people
there is no reason
there is no rhyme
it just is what it is
a Blessing in disguise
the push of the Universe
with all its pure intention
nothing is accidental
phases of life
the twists and turns
the process comes
full circle
with love and no concerns

...when I dream of misty nights
with sails in the wind
waves begin to swell
a smile to my lips...

...that first kiss I knew it well

What's Missing...

"....it doesn't always have to be this way..."

Little voice inside my head
sings a song low key
off beat far left of anywhere
slipping from addiction
to obsession
no matter what rolls
in or out with the tide
early morning light
shines ever so brightly
and the truth remains
silent lovers tiptoe
past an open shade
never throwing shadows
on black granite of your grave
tranquil vibrations of an open vein
desire can dismantle
better judgement
left for another day
defenses up
when times get twisted
and decision can't be made...

I continue to question, what's missing...?
