My Molas

I was completely taken by the molas. They are breath taking and each one is original.

The Kuna women make them by hand. The fabric is layered and the more layers the more the mola will cost. Also the more detailed and tiny the stitches the more expensive.

The most I paid for a mola was $25. Most were any where from $5 to $15. I didn't try and get the price down because the Kuna are so poor, making money on beautiful art is worth every penny as far as I was concerned.

Traditional molas are geometric designs - they also have a large population that is Catholic (I bought one mola that was religious...)I prefer the traditional, but I did buy other designs because they were amazing to look at.
